Typically, a self-published or independently published title must be available in our stores through our consignment program before it can be considered for an event.

Please note: If your book has been published by one of our regular publishers, please have your publisher's marketing department make arrangements with us directly to organize an author event.

How can I schedule a Book Launch, Book Signing or Author Reading?

The Mulberry Bush Book Stores have a range of promotional packages that we offer to self-published or independently published authors for events. As a self-published author, you will already have a marketing plan in place that includes your costs of consignment and paying for events that will help you to sell your books. We will be happy to help you choose the package that matches your marketing budget.

Package No. 1

For $100 we will:
  • Feature your book for at least two weeks in a prominent place at the front of our stores in Parksville and Qualicum Beach

Package No. 2

For $150 we will:
  • Feature your book for at least two weeks in a prominent place at the front of our stores in Parksville and Qualicum Beach.
  • Feature your book in our monthly e-newsletter and on our Facebook page and website

Package No. 3

For $175 we will:
  • Offer everything in package No. 2 PLUS a Book Signing event during regular store hours. The book signing event will be featured on our Facebook page, website and in our monthly e-newsletter, which goes out to our extensive mailing list at the beginning of every month.
  • The book signing will take place in one or both of our stores, between one and two hours, depending on how long you want to spend.
  • Along with our advertising, we'll have a table and chair for you in-store, as well as signage and a warm welcome!

Package No. 4

For $300 we will:
  • Offer everything in Package No. 2 PLUS we will host your Author Reading in our Parksville store.
  • Display the consigned book in a window and/or in-store display for 2 weeks before the Reading and up to 2 weeks after the event.
  • Print flyers to be handed out to our customers at both stores prior to the event.
  • Arrange for one print advertisement for the event in our local newspaper.
  • Host an evening Reading at our Parksville store starting at 6:30pm or 7:00pm on a mutually agreed-upon date.
  • Set-up for the evening with chairs, lectern (if requested) and microphone.
  • Feature the author's book on a table at front of the room during Reading.
  • Provide staff to sell author's book throughout the evening.
  • Stock and sell author's book in both stores throughout the consignment period.
